Forgiveness

Sometimes in your life, if it’s anything like mine,

it seems like a mess and you keep givin’ in.

You try to do right at least most of the time,

but you keep messin’ up, stepin’ over the line.

 

Sometimes it seems easier to throw it all in,

just let down your standards, look back and give in.

You’re weary from tryin’ to hold up the fight.

You’re battle scarred and bruised,

and it’s given you a fright.

 

There is no crime He can’t forgive.

No deed you’ve done means you can’t live

within the shelter of his outstretched arms.

The tender gaze of His loving eyes,

pierced and bleeding from a crown of thorns.

 

Sometimes you can feel the things that you’ve done

have built up a wall that’s too high to break down.

You try to reach God, He’s trying to reach you.

In humble surrender forgiveness breaks through!
