grace has covered me

There was a time in my life I realised I was trying to earn my way to heaven.

I knew the Bible said in Ephesians 2:8,9 that it is by grace (undeserved favour) that we are saved and not by works. However, I acted like I was trying to earn salvation.

The problem was that I knew I fell way short.

The Bible says in Romans 3:23 that everyone has sinned and falls short of God’s glorious standard.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord,”

(Romans 6:23 NLT).

Romans 8:1 (NLT) says: “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.”

Slowly the message of grace began to make its way from my head to my heart!

I realised that all my sins (past, present and future) have been paid for by Jesus’ blood, shed on the cross.

I no longer need to strive to earn God’s favour. His grace has covered me!

Nothing in my hand I bring

Simply to Your Cross I cling

Naked come to You for dress

Helpless look to You for Grace

 

I tried so hard to make the mark

Just wanting to be free

The more I tried the more I failed

And now I’m on my knees
